Logging in to the Sandbox Portal
Begin by logging into the sandbox portal via the URL provided in your Merchant Console Instructions email. This environment simulates live transactions without processing actual payments.
Generating Your API Key
To generate an API key for your sandbox account, follow these steps:
- Click on "Settings" in the dashboard menu.
- Select "API Keys" from the options.
- Click on Add API Key (you may also choose to create a Public API Key if needed after creating your API key).
- Enter a name for your API key to identify it later.
- Enter a PIN.
- Click "Save" to complete the process.
Understanding the Sandbox Environment
The USAePay sandbox environment allows you to test payment processes without affecting live accounts or real money. Here’s what you should know:
- It is self-contained and does not send data to external processing platforms.
- Charging a live credit card in the sandbox will not result in any actual charges on the card-holder's statement.
- Always use the provided test card numbers when running transactions in the sandbox.
- Transaction processing speed is intentionally limited to simulate real-world conditions.
- The sandbox transaction database is periodically cleared every few months to maintain optimal performance.
